What started as a small/local comic book and toy show in 2010 has grown over the years to become what you see today - a regional show with high-profile guests from both the comic book and media industries, being attended by thousands of people annually!

We are very proud to have
celebrated the 10th year of the
Great Lakes Comic Convention!

OVER 10 YEARS IN THE MAKING!
2010 to 2020

In February 2020, we made a tremendous effort to bring back guests from each year of the Great Lakes Comic-Con! Although we weren't able to bring back every single guest, we felt that we have a fantastic guest representation of what the Great Lakes show is all about.

THE FIRST SHOW WAS ON
SATURDAY, JULY 18, 2010

LOCATED AT THE VFW HALL
IN ROSEVILLE, MICHIGAN

There weren't any guests at the first show. The focus was on running a local show with only comic books and toys.

IN 2011, WE BEGAN TO ADD GUESTS TO THE EVENT.

ON FEBRUARY 27, 2011 WE WELCOMED WILLIAM MESSNER-LOEBS AS OUR FIRST GUEST.

ON JULY 23, 2011, WE WERE JOINED BY BOTH KEITH POLLARD AND ARVELL JONES AS GUESTS.

The July Show was our first time at Trinity Lutheran Church/School in Clinton Township, Michigan.

BY 2012, THE SHOW WAS CONTINUING TO GROW!

WE FIRST ADDED THE ANNUAL DECEMBER/HOLIDAY SHOW TO THE ROSTER IN 2012.

ALSO, OUR GOOD FRIEND
JASON MOORE BEGAN TO ATTEND AS A GUEST!

IN 2013, THE FEBUARY SHOW WAS MOVED TO MACOMB COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN WARREN, MICHIGAN.

THE EVENT WAS HOSTED IN THE STUDENT CENTER, AND IT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!

In 2013, we started calling the event "The Great Lakes Comic Expo". 2013 was also the debut of the first event program!

We received permission from DC Comics to use a comic book cover by Jim Lee on the event program.

IN FEBRUARY 2014, THE EVENT WAS MOVED TO THE EXPO CENTER AT MACOMB COMMUNITY COLLEGE, AND IT HAS BEEN THERE EVER SINCE!

THE FEBRUARY EVENT BEGAN TO BE CALLED THE "COMIC CONVENTION" WHILE THE OTHER SHOWS (JULY, DECEMBER) WERE STILL CALLED "COMIC EXPOS".

THERE WERE TWO COMIC-CON SHOWS IN 2014 AT MCC, ONE IN FEBRUARY AND ONE IN OCTOBER.

Darryl Banks , Rich Buckler, Chris Claremont, Seth Damoose, Arvell Jones, Dirk Manning, Ron Marz, William Messner-Loebs, Al Milgrom, Jason Moore, David Perrin III, Keith Pollard, Tom Raney, Ryan Stegman, Jim Steranko, Paul Storrie, Jordan Trovillion, and Tom Waltz

IN 2015, THE FEBRUARY SHOW BECAME OUR SINGLE LARGEST SHOW EACH YEAR.

WE KEPT EACH ANNUAL SHOW
AT MACOMB COMMUNITY COLLEGE. IT WOULD BE CALLED THE GREAT LAKES COMIC-CON.

ALL OF THE OTHER SHOWS WOULD BE CALLED GREAT LAKES COMIC-EXPOS.

IN 2016, THE FEBRUARY EVENT WAS ORGANIZED AROUND A "THEME" FOR THE FIRST TIME.

THE THEME IN 2016 WAS THE 1980s (COMICS, CARTOONS, AND POP CULTURE).

OUR FIRST GUEST FROM THE WRESTLING INDUSTRY (SGT. SLAUGHTER) MADE AN APPEARANCE.

OUR INITIAL FOCUS WAS ON HIS ROLE IN G.I. JOE (1980s), BUT HIS PRESENCE WAS SUCH A HIT THAT EVEN NOW A WRESTLING GUEST IS PART OF THE EVENT EACH FEBRUARY!

IN 2017, THE GREAT LAKES COMIC CONVENTION CELEBRATED 55 YEARS OF EVERYONE'S FAVORITE WALL-CRAWLER - SPIDER-MAN!

MANY OF THE GUESTS IN ATTENDANCE PLAYED A ROLE, IN SOMEWAY, TO THAT CHARACTER'S HISTORY.
